If you came across cans of Victoria beer and were drawn in by images of Guillermo del Toro and his monsters, then you should also know that the director isn’t happy about the unexpected collaboration. Today on Twitter, GdT called out the beer brand for using his (and his monsters’ likeness).

“Muy mal hecho @VictoriaMX,” he wrote. “I did not approve of, or consult on or sign off on these cans to use my image or my name. Donate the earnings to the many youth mathematics and robotics teams. They need [the money].”

The black cans feature black-and-white illustrations of del Toro, Pale Man and Amphibian Man. The words “porque soy Mexicano” – which GdT uttered following his Golden Globe for best director win in 2018 – are featured at the bottom of the cans.
