San Francisco writer David Sikorski blew up the internet last week when he posted a bunch of engagement photos of himself with his burrito. Immediately, I was intrigued – sense of humor AND manbun? How can we learn more? Now, thanks to a recent interview with Munchies, we’ve got some more intel on Sikorski. Apparently, before moving to San Francisco from NYC, he was one of those poor souls who thought Chipotle was as good as it gets. Missing his NY pizza, he found that only Mexican restaurants were open late. “I found myself surrounded by just rows of Mexican places, and I’ve eaten at all of them,” he said. “I never realized just how much I love Mexican food.” That’s why when Facebook became everyone’s social media network of choice to show off their engagement photos, he decided to one-up them by taking romantic pics with his new love: a Taqueria La Cumbre burrito.
The well-accessorized burrito and David hit up iconic San Francisco locations, where they ran through the beach, popped champagne and had a picnic, as David looked on with hunger and thirst. Kristina Bakrevski, the photographer, is the luckiest woman alive because she got to see a grown man posing with his burrito/lover. The shoot took two days, so those are two different burritos he’s posing with.
For funsies, he’s also thought of what wedding a burrito would look like. Dinner would be guacamole, chips, salsa, and buckets of margaritas. The cake would be a quesadilla cake. He said, “A giant cake, but inside is different layers of quesadillas.” Count me in!
