Chef Eddie Garza, an author and program manager of food and nutrition for the Humane Society, is taking his plant-based cooking talent online.

On May 5, the new cooking show, Global Bites With Eddie Garza, will premiere on OzTube (OzTube.com), a new on-demand digital video platform created by Dr. Mehmet Oz. Garza’s new culinary journey will include spending time with some of his vegan celebrity friends like TV host and model Daisy Fuentes.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be able to bring my fun, fresh plant-based twist on global cuisines to Dr. Oz’s OzTube,” Garza says in a statement.

Garza grew up in the border town of Brownsville, Texas, which today is considered one of the most unhealthiest cities in America. Garza struggled with weight issues during his childhood and into his young adult life. At the age of 21, he was 310 pounds. When Garza changed his lifestyle and turned to a plant-based diet, he lost over 150 pounds.

Along with taking his message about how beneficial a plant-based diet can be to an online platform, Garza has also written two books. His newest is The 30 Day Vegan Meal Plan for Beginners, which was released earlier this year. Garza’s other book, ¡Salud! Vegan Mexican Cookbook, features 150 plant-based recipes that represent the 150 pounds he lost.

In the past, Garza has spoken on health and wellness at universities, culinary schools and conferences in the United States and Latin America. He also speaks on ways to reform food systems in marginalized communities.
