It’s time to pull down those fake spider webs and bag up all the leftover candy corn (or buy after Halloween candy). Halloween 2021 is officially over.

A lot of trick-or-treating and Halloween parties were put on hold last year because of the pandemic, but it looks like a few more people were in a celebratory mood in 2021. According to the National Retail Federation, an estimated 65 percent of Americans intended to participate in Halloween activities this year, up from 58 percent in 2020. This included 46 percent of those surveyed who said they would wear a costume.

From superheroes to Selena Quintanilla (two of them because why not) to monsters of Latin American folklore, here are seven of our favorite costumes worn by some of our fav celebrities this past weekend.

1

Leslie Grace as Batgirl

Fans of the In the Heights star said they wanted to see her in a Batgirl suit, so Leslie Grace delivered. It’s not the kind of bat suit she’ll likely wear when she portrays the superhero in an upcoming HBO Max movie, but Grace put a lot into her Halloween costume this year with a toy Batgirl mask and a pink, purple and black onesie. Gotham never looked so comfy.

2

Cardi B as Morticia Addams

The rapper went dark and spooky as icon Morticia Addams in a dress by Natalia Fedner. She completed the look with a red lip, rose, and what we think are two hearses. She also had a second look where she dressed as a witch with her daughter

3

Ciara as Selena Quintanilla

Ciara went all out as Selena this Halloween. Not only did she kill it in a plum version of the iconic bell-bottomed outfit, she did her own mock performance in it and embodied Selena’s moves and energy. We’d love to see more!

4

Tokischa as El Chupacabra

We wonder if rapper Tokischa passed out candy to kids wearing this getup because it’s scary as hell. Her interpretation of the Latin American creature known as El Chupacabra includes one colored contact and lots of fake blood.

5

Romeo Santos & Friends as Aventura

By far the creepiest costume has to be Romeo Santos & friends as Aventura. We truly appreciate the effort and are blown away by Landon Meier’s work via his Hyperflesh work. But dear lord is it also so realistic that it’s creepy, especially when Santos is trying them on.

6

Natalie Martinez as Chun-Li from ‘Street Fighter’

Based on all the photos she posted this weekend, we’re not sure how many parties End of Watch actress Natalie Martinez attended this year. Her first set of photos are of her dressed as Street Fighter character Chun-Li. Other character photos posted include Cruella De Vil and one of the creepy twins from the 1980 horror classic The Shining

7

Cristela Alonzo as Selena Quintanilla

Actress and stand-up comedian Cristela Alonzo connected with her South Texas roots when she donned a bustier this year to portray the Queen of Tejano, Selena Quintanilla. “I decided to dress up as a Tejana that made history and changed the game forever!” Alonzo wrote. “Anything for Selenas!” Actually, it’s Salinas.
