Becky G Celebrates Her Mexican Roots With New Brand ‘Treslúce Beauty’

It’s official: Becky G just dropped a Latinx-inspired beauty line. The singer and actress — who was discovered on YouTube at the age of 14 and has since topped Billboard charts — released Treslúce Beauty, which taps into her Mexican heritage. Her brand is an ode to what she holds dear in culture and family with agave-infused formulas sourced from her grandparent’s hometown of Jalisco, Mexico. Her product’s packaging comes in “Talavera blue” casings that reference the Talavera tiles popularly seen in Mexican decor. According to the Fulanito singer, the beauty line is one of her “biggest dreams come true.”

Ahead of the line’s release, we hopped on a Zoom call with Becky G, who spoke on the significance of this launch. “I’ve dreamt about this moment for years now, and it was always on my list of priorities, but I thought it was important to be a student first,” she tells Remezcla. “I was one of the youngest Covergirls ever, and it was such a huge moment for me at 15 years old to be an ‘easy, breezy, beautiful cover girl.'”

Following her Covergirl deal, Becky G collaborated with the popular cosmetics company ColourPop, which she says improved her confidence and knowledge of design, makeup formulas, and branding. This experience led her to carve out her own vision for a makeup line.

The singer, now beauty founder, also shared her hopes of inspiring other young businesswomen, “I just want to create more opportunities to eventually become a platform for other artists and more collaboration in the beauty space,” she adds. “That’s why we collaborated with [Mexican] artist Monica Loya to help us with the artwork on our packaging. She’s the first, but definitely not the last, of artists that we intend on collaborating with when it comes to our brand.”

While Treslúce debuted with a collection that celebrates Becky G’s personal story and heritage, the brand also intends to collaborate with other artists to represent their Latinidad and represent their different banderas and stories. She hopes that her brand can authentically represent the diversity of Latinx communities. “Making a welcoming space, broadening the conversation around what it means to be Latinx and that it means something different for everyone and that it’s such a personal thing, I think will really help us in the beauty space,” she proclaims. “Celebrating each other is a really beautiful place to start. That’s why the color story for this is so important to me because it feels celebratory of me, my love, and passion not just for makeup but for my culture.”

The chart-topping artist has been quietly showing off her Treslúce color story in her recent music videos and performances — from the rich-vibrant matte and shimmery eye shadows to the versatile multicolor gel pencil liners. The brand’s products launch today, June 25, on treslucebeauty.com and range from $8 to $35.
