As Cardi B’s fame has exploded, the Trini-Dominican-American rapper has explained several times how she landed on the stage name. And on a recent appearance on The Tonight Show, she told host Jimmy Fallon how the name evolved. “You know what, my sister name is Hennessy, so everybody used to call me Bacardi,” she said. “Then it was my Instagram name, Bacardi, Bacardi B, but for some reason, my Instagram kept getting deleted, and you know what I think it was Bacardi that had something to do with it. So I just changed it to Cardi B.”
