Independence Day weekend means different things for a lot of us. For most of America, it’s about BBQs, getting stupid drunk and trying not to blow your fingers off with illegal fireworks. But amid the partying some of us don’t forget that 4th of July, like many holidays in America, also represent imperialism and the erasure of native cultures from all over the world. Not trying to be Anita Aguafiestas (Debbie Downer’s prima, obvs), just pointing out that there ways to be conscious in your long weekend celebrations this year.
