Among the many amazing things Parks and Recreation gave us – Jean Ralphio, a waffle-obsessed heroine (who is also incredibly savvy), and Mouse Rat’s “5000 Candles in the Wind” – Galentine’s Day is perhaps the best. The day before Valentine’s Day, Leslie Knope gathers the female figures in her life to celebrate them and their friendship. In recent years, Galentine’s Day has crossed into the mainstream, with women hosting their own celebrations.

With the day trending on Twitter, we decided to gather some female friendships (real and fictional) that have inspired us. Check out 12 sets of BFFs we’re celebrating this Galentine’s Day.

1

Flaca and Maritza – whose names have been combined into Flaritza – are both inmates at Litchfield Penitentiary on Orange is the New Black. The duo is often together, especially through the tough times.

2

Diane Guerrero and Jackie Cruz

In real life, Diane Guerrero and Jackie Cruz are also BFFs. Watch them adorably fail this BFF quiz.

3

Gina Rodriguez and Tessa Thompson

Gina Rodriguez and Tessa Thompson, costars in the upcoming Annihilation film, have the sweetest Twitter exchange.

4

Dance squad on Gotta Kick It Up

Gotta Kick it Up, Disney’s 2002 TV movie, revolved around the friendship of a group of young Latina dancers. Together, the team pushed themselves to success. When Daisy (Camille Guaty) got stage fright, her girls helped her pull through.

5

Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz

Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz are so close that the Mexican actress trusts Cruz to cut her hair. Over the years, the two have become the definition of friendship goals. Most of that is because they’ve got each other’s backs. “We really respect each other, but if one asks a question to the other one, we know we’re going to hear the truth. And I think that’s why we are close friends and closer every day, because there’s no BS in our relationship,” Cruz told the Los Angeles Times.

6

Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini

Jennifer Lopez and Leah Remini are longtime friends. When Leah decided to leave the Church of Scientology, she leaned on Lopez for support. “She told me to keep the good things and move on with love,” Remini told People. “She doesn’t judge.”

7

Jane Villanueva and Lina Santillan

Jane Villanueva and Lina Santillan on Jane the Virgin don’t share a ton of screen time these days (and recently had a falling out before making up again), but the lifelong friends are always there for each other.

8

Elena and Goth Carmen

In the first season of One Day at a Time, Elena and Carmen are inseparable. Elena even tries to provide shelter for Carmen after her parents are deported. Though we don’t see any Carmen in season 2, they’re surely still keeping in touch.

9

Rosa and Amy

Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Rosa and Amy may not have the most traditional friendship (Rosa isn’t really down with expressing feelings other than contempt), but she and Amy support each other. With no competitiveness between the two women (except when it comes to office-wide challenges), it’s a refreshing relationship to see on TV.

10

Selena Gomez and Francia Raísa

Francia Raísa goes in the BFF Hall of Fame after she donated a kidney to Selena Gomez last year. Their friendship spans 14 years, and last year, Francia quietly donated an organ to Selena. The pop star eventually wrote a touching Instagram post announcing Francia’s act to the world.

11

Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick

Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick are the funniest BFFs around.

12

Betty and Hilda Suarez

On Ugly Betty, sisters Betty and Hilda Suarez may fight (what sisters don’t?), but they always turn to each other when they need guidance in life.
