After months of rumors, J Balvin and his girlfriend, model Valentina Ferrer confirmed their pregnancy via Hola! Magazine earlier this month. The couple is actually in the final trimester of the pregnancy, and also revealed the gender of their unborn child, a baby boy.

The 27-year-old former Miss Argentina and Colombian singer met on the set of his video for “Sigo Extrañándote” in 2017. A year later, they made their relationship official the way only celebrities know how—by attending New York Fashion Week together. Since then, the pair have been photographed all over the world together. The couple is both excited and anxious for their baby boy, who they have said they will name Rio.

Until now, Ferrer has not granted many interviews; but, recently, in an exclusive editorial for Vogue Mexico and Latin America, the Argentinian model lets fans in on her beauty routine, pregnancy advice and more through a series of portraits done by photographer An Le. Here’s a few things we learned from the private mama to be from her photoshoot.

The Zoom screen froze when she wanted to tell J Balvin she was pregnant.

Ferrer shared that she wanted to tell Balvin when she found out, so she was going to give him the news over one of their Zoom calls but the screen froze. “He stayed frozen,” she says. “I was happy but it was like a call from Zoom that doesn’t work when the WiFi crashes, that’s how [the screen] stayed, frozen. I told him in person, but it stayed that way.”

The thing about pregnancy that surprised her the most? The loss of energy.

Every pregnancy is different, and every pregnancy changes throughout. But Ferrer was not prepared for how much energy her body would need while it was creating a new life. “’I was always a person with a lot of adrenaline,” she said. “I like to play basketball… That was a shock for me… My hobbies were cut off. I used to travel everywhere and, after the quarantine, I said: . No, it is not my time, now is the time for the baby.’”

She took the pregnancy test in the bathroom with her dog.

Ferrer tells the magazine that she took the pregnancy test in her bathroom with her dog so that she “wouldn’t be alone.” And it admits that she didn’t believe the results, so she took “like three in a row” to be sure.

The model has always cared about her skin, so of course she came up with a skin care routine for her pregnancy.

Her advice to expecting mothers? Just be you.

Ferrer’s advice to expecting mother is to not quit doing what you love—just be more careful. As far as after the baby arrives? “I’m not going to stop doing important things; it’s my career,” she said. “It’s something I love. I want to have something that I really like, that is my passion and that I can be raising my children and working.”
