Every year, I tell myself I’ll get my holiday shopping done early. And surprise, surprise, I don’t. Not because I forgot, but because life happens. Work deadlines stretch into December, family plans shift, travel sneaks up, and suddenly I’m someone racing the clock. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone.
What’s interesting is that, broadly speaking, shoppers are actually being more proactive this year. As Trisha Gregory, Chief Brand Officer of Luxury Stores at Amazon, shared with us, “We are seeing customers shopping much earlier for holiday gift items this year, which signals to us that customers are being very intentional about their purchases right now.” That may be true, and yet there are still plenty of us figuring things out closer to the finish line.
Although last-minute gifting gets a bad rap, it doesn’t have to feel rushed or impersonal. You can still shop thoughtfully, especially when you’re focused on brands that align with your values. For me, that often looks like seeking out Latine-owned businesses, even when I’m shopping late, and that’s why I want to share some of my favorite finds that can ship in time for Christmas Day.
And if you get to it after Christmas Day, for many Latine families, the holiday season doesn’t stop on December 25. Traditions like Día de los Reyes (Three Kings Day) keep gift-giving going, and this year Amazon is launching a dedicated Día de los Reyes storefront, live from December 26 through January 6, featuring last-minute gifts, toys, hosting essentials, and grocery items tied to the tradition.
Before we get into my finds, I would be remiss not to share that, beyond the small-business finds, Gregory notes that consumers might still be surprised by the range of higher-end options available, too, if you’re shopping for a partner, a parent, or looking to treat yourself for the season. Gregory notes, “For some of our customers, we are offering their first luxury shopping experience… We allow for that discovery and the transition into luxury for special occasion investment pieces or for fun.”
Ahead, I’m sharing last-minute gift ideas from Latine-owned brands available on Amazon that show how even late shopping can still feel intentional and rooted in culture.
