Halloween is that time of year when everyone can become anyone or anything they want for at least one fun-filled night of tricks, treats, and family traditions.
The same goes for Latine celebrities who wanted to show off their best costumes all weekend leading up to Halloween on Monday (October 31). From Broadway superstar Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton) to reggaeton and Latin trap artist Karol G, to Brazilian drag queen and singer Pabllo Vittar, everyone’s Halloween outfits were memorable.
Lin-Manuel Miranda as El Chapulín Colorado
The Oscar nominee could’ve been a doppelgänger for the Mexican TV character, except for the red, black, and white Nike sneakers he wore, which was a nice modern touch. Miranda even carried around the character’s squeaky hammer known as the Chipote Chillón. Now, we’re wondering if El Chapulín Colorado: The Musical will soon hit Broadway.
Karol G as Gatúbela
Karol G dressed as her own version of Catwoman from the 1992 superhero sequel Batman Returns, which was famously played by Michelle Pfeiffer. Karol G’s catsuit is bright red, but features the stitched look Pfeiffer wore on her form-fitting costume. Karol G’s Catwoman is a reference to her song “Gatúbela,” which is Latin America’s version of the character.
Rachel Zegler as Vivian Ward
The West Side Story star found an outfit to match the lead character in the 1990 romantic comedy Pretty Woman. Actress Julia Roberts played the role of a prostitute with a heart of gold who gets swept up in a whirlwind romance. We’re still awaiting confirmation that Zegler’s real-life boyfriend, actor Josh Andrés Rivera, dressed up as Richard Gere.
Pabllo Vitar as Selena Quintanilla
The Queen of Tejano’s iconic purple jumpsuit was on full display when drag queen and singer Pabllo Vitar went all out for Halloween. We’ve seen Vitar sing everything from Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing” to Major Lazer’s “Lean On,” so we think she could probably take on “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom” without much trouble.
Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach
Since The Queen’s Gambit actress will lend her voice to Princess Peach in the upcoming The Super Mario Bros. Movie, we’re going to assume she’s trying to get the vibe going by dressing as a live-action version of the Mushroom Kingdom royal. Hopefully, Taylor-Joy will appear on the red carpet at the premiere in her pink outfit and plastic crown. And hopefully, whoever is dressed as Mario in the background saves her from Bowser.
Rauw Alejandro as the Blue Ranger
Singer Rauw Alejandro dressed as the Blue Ranger from the Power Rangers franchise and even colored his hair blue to match the outfit. We’re not going to pretend like we know the exact series his Power Ranger character comes from since there have been about 30 different versions broadcasted in the last 30 years, but we’re going to guess Alejandro probably said “It’s Morphin Time!” sometime during his evening out.
Camile Mendes as Mary Sanderson
If you’re part of a trio of friends, you can’t go wrong on Halloween when working together to pull off the Sanderson sisters from the Hocus Pocus franchise. Between friends Camile Mendes, Lili Reinhart, and Madelaine Petsch – all who starred in the series Riverdale – Mendes landed on Mary Sanderson, the witchy sister with the crooked grin.
Becky G as Santanico Pandemonium
The singer and actress showed off her sultry side this Halloween when she dressed like Santanico Pandemonium from the 1996 horror movie From Dusk Till Dawn. The role was originally played by Salma Hayek and revisited by Eiza González in the TV series of the same name. Joining Becky G to get the full effect was a guy dressed as the criminal character Seth Gecko, who was originally played by George Clooney in the movie. Let’s hope Becky G doesn’t go full vamp for the spooky holiday.
Rebecca Black as Pamela Anderson
Rebecca Black went blonde and put on a white corset and puffy pink hat to portray actress and model Pamela Anderson. The Baywatch star recently reentered the cultural zeitgeist when the miniseries Pam & Tommy debuted on Hulu earlier this year. Also, we’re not sure who’s licking Black’s cheek, but we’re gonna assume it’s Pamela’s very own Halloween Tommy.
Jessica Marie Garcia as Wilma Flintstone
The On My Block star made Halloween a family affair with her husband Adam and little girl Selena Grey. This is Selena’s first Halloween. To celebrate, the family dressed as Wilma, Fred, and Pebbles Flintstone from The Flintstones media franchise. We’ll give them extra points if we find out they ate some brontosaurus burgers or yelled, “Yabba Dabba Do!”
