All in all, graduation season is typically emotional and exciting because of the speeches and celebrations. However, our favorite part is undoubtedly the way that grads decorate their caps. On the surface of the caps are notes that either serve as encouragement for the grads, words of wisdom to the world, or that pay homage to those that made the students’ success possible. It’s easily one of the most touching parts of the season.

For the last few years, Latina Rebels – the collective working to empower the Latino community – has encouraged grads to send in their powerful messages. This year was no different. Under the #LatinxGradCaps hashtag, Latina Rebels asked students to share snaps of their caps. Below, check out some we found on Instagram and prepare to shed a tear or two.

little secret for everyone on this app is that my Mother’s Day gift to my mom is this gradation cap. My parents are and will ALWAYS be my biggest supporters! To be the first daughter they see graduate, I can’t imagine not thanking or honoring them in any other way. My mom would tell me how she always wanted to be a nurse and my dad wasn’t even able to go to high school. This is worth every obstacle & loneliness I felt these past 4 years as I wasn’t able to visit or see my parents as often as I could & I’m like two hours away God blessed me with my loving parents & I can feel the tears coming down as I write this!! I also choked up when @theycallmepiv showed me a pic of the design she made for me! I can’t wait to see my parent’s faces on Thursday ❤️❤️ #latinxgradcaps #Temple2019 #TUGrad @ashleey_mary for the grad pics!! More to come!!
