Here Are 7 Celebrities We Hope To See at the 2022 Met Gala

The Met Gala is one of the most exciting times in fashion. Celebrities descend on the fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. The elaborate outfits always yield plenty of chatter on social media for days — sometimes even years. This year’s theme is “Gilded Glamour,” as Vogue further explained: “The 2022 Met Gala will ask its attendees to embody the grandeur—and perhaps the dichotomy—of Gilded Age New York.” We know a grandeur theme will surely give us moments to remember for months to come as there are so many ways that celebrities can interpret a theme like this one.

But as much as we look forward to the fashion, we also have our eyes set on the guest list. There are a few people we would love to see take on the theme this year who will understand and unequivocally understand the assignment. We won’t know everyone who is invited until the day of the event, but we can all dream ahead of time, right?

That’s why we’ve put together a list of seven Latine celebrities we really hope to see at the 2022 Met Gala. Fingers crossed that they’re in there — or being considered for next year.

1

Bad Bunny

It’d be a disservice not to include Bad Bunny, who has had many standout fashion moments in recent years. He’s known to wear gender-bending outfits that make people talk. Whether he is rocking handbags from luxury brands or pushing the boundaries of male fashion, Bad Bunny knows how to show up and show out. If anyone is deserving of a chance to make a fashion statement at the Met Gala, it is definitely Bad Bunny.

2

Tokischa

Talk about someone who would have fun with the assignment. Tokischa is one celebrity that would make waves when she takes the red carpet. The rapper is not shy to wear an outfit that would make everyone understand the true artistry of fashion. A quick scroll through her Instagram is proof that she is a rising fashion star whose style is set to get more interesting and exciting over time. She would be *a* moment on the Met Gala’s red carpet.

3

Oscar Isaac

Actor and certified internet-daddy Oscar Isaac already created a fashion moment that left Twitter buzzing when he wore a pleated skirt to the Moon Knight premiere in London. Yes, we are still thinking about just how good he pulled it off. We can only imagine what he would be able to pull off on such an important fashion night. There is just something about the man that makes us believe he would be an exquisite addition to the parade of fashion and celebrities.

4

Pabllo Vittar

In the immortal words of Noxeema Jackson, played by Wesley Snipes in To Wong Foo: Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, “When a gay man has way too much fashion sense for one gender he is a drag queen.” Pabllo Vittar made history as the first drag queen to perform at Coachella this year, and her fashion sense is something to behold. Letting them interpret the “Gilded Glamour” theme would leave us all gagging, mama!

5

Ariana DeBose

The actress had an incredible year. West Side Story earned her numerous awards, including an Oscar. Her fashion moments have also been on point the entire awards season leaving us wanting more. She can transform into any situation with her looks. Ariana DeBose using the theme to call back to the film aesthetic would give us something we never knew we needed. Who do we have to petition to get this woman invited if she isn’t already?

6

Karol G

If the Met Gala is serious about giving fashion a moment to be celebrated, inviting Karol G just makes sense, you know? The singer’s career keeps skyrocketing, and her ability to rock different kinds of looks just proves her ability to make a splash at the Met Gala. We love to see a queen who knows how to make any fashion style work for her. She can be the glammed-up doll you expect on a red carpet or the artistic girl next door that is always stepping out in incredible threads.

7

Vico Ortiz

Vico Ortiz is here for all the fashion styles you could ever throw at them. The Our Flag Means Death actor has shown up wearing outfits that will take your breath away. Their ability to meld together traditionally masculine and traditionally feminine fashion elements into stunning works of wearable art is refreshing. An appearance at the Met Gala by Ortiz will elevate the entire theme leaps and bounds, and we’d love to see it happen.
