Here Are the Miss Universe 2024 Contestants from Latin America

The Miss Universe 2024 pageant is almost here. The event will be held November 16th at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, and will see Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua crown her successor. With the days before the event almost down to single digits, the candidates from Latin America vying for that crown have been set.
Miss Universe 2024 is expected to have representatives from 130 countries, making the pageant the largest in history. Among the nations returning to the contest is Cuba, which will join countries like Belize, Botswana, China, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, and Samoa in making their return. Iran is also set to send a representative the the pageant for the first time, under the title of Miss Universe Persia.
This year’s contest is the first since the age requirement was lifted, which means women older than 28 can compete for the first time. The pageant’s 73rd edition will be broadcast live in Spanish exclusively on Telemundo. It can also be watched on USA Network.
Controversy over the pageant has been significantly less considering the changes, but even so, it’s important to acknowledge that we still have a long way to go when it comes to a true representation of what Latin America looks like in the contestants. Our communities are very distinct and beautiful in those distinctions, and it’s way past time that was reflected in those who represent us on a world stage.
