We all seem to have been swallowed by the Upside Down and spit into an all but favorable alternate reality that, in many ways, forces us to reflect and find new ways to enjoy company with both ourselves and those who we live with. For career-driven folks who live in small homes in cities full of big dreams, the change can be daunting and anxiety-provoking. With social media as an evermore reliable force of connection, many of us have kept it real on there. For folks who live in mansions with everything they need at their fingertips, the change may force them to reshift priorities and, in the best of cases, use their privilege to help others. Many, like Cardi B have done just that.

Suddenly everyone is on TikTok, celebrities are pulling kids out of the woodwork and into the spotlight and everyone and their mom is going Live on Instagram. We’re all choosing our character in this dystopia. Here are a few patterns, as exemplified by some familiar faces:

The Annoying (Yet Adorable AF) Couple

Wake us up when it’s 2021 …

Miguel and his wife Nazanin Mandi Pimentel are one of those couples you can’t help but love. Whereas other couples’ PDA can come off as annoying, cheesy or forced—we all have a friend or two who came to mind—the love these two share comes off as genuine and I can only imagine how much love is being shared within the confines of those four walls.

The PSA King/Queen

On Wednesday, Cardi B took to Instagram to announce she and Fashion Nova will give away a total of $1 million to help those financially affected by the pandemic. As we know from her Census videos, Bernie Sanders interviews and more, Cardi B is good about using her platform well.

In general, this type of quarantine personality takes it upon themselves to inform or help their followers, recognizing their influence, privilege or both. Retired Argentinian basketball player Manu Ginobili is another example. The gent urged everyone to stay home (because surely there are folks out there who will listen to celebs over their governors). Notice how his tone gets a little more irritated as he goes on? Delightful. As we all know, Argentinians not only have the magic touch to make the best steak, they also have one of the best accents of Latin America. One commenter said: “I don’t know what you saying but I can’t stop listening.”

The Agents of Thirst

Many people are self-distancing at home sans a lover and it shows. The thirst traps are rolling in heavy and hard. Let Reina Niurka Marcos inspire you.

The Profound Thinker

Now that we all have a bit more time to parse through long captions and watch IGTV videos, profound thinkers who have pockets of time with nothing but their thoughts are opting to share with the world. Elite star and singer Danna Paola, for example, said: “We are now stardust, lost in a room with four walls, living with our ghosts.”

The Folks Who Had Kids Hiding in Their Closets

Some zaddies are actually daddies and we didn’t even know it, mi gente.

We’re all losing it at some, or multiple, point(s) throughout the week. Rather than posting glam shots stored in the archive, some folks like Paloma Elsesser are opting for authenticity and becoming all the more relatable for it.
