It was only a matter of time before Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez got together to form a Domirican power couple. So when Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez confirmed their relationship in the spring of 2017, fans asked (or maybe it was just me), “What took you so long?”

Rodriguez and Lopez are a match made in New York City heaven. Both grew up in the city (Lopez in the Bronx and Rodriguez in Washington Heights), have embraced their Latino roots throughout their career, and are both Leos (their birthdays are a few days apart). The two also have kids from previous relationships – J.Lo’s twins, Emme and Max and A Rod’s daughters, Ella and Natasha – who have formed a tight relationship since the pair got together. Both have found incredible successful in their fields, and they each have equally catchy abbreviated monikers.

But the couple’s cutest moment happened last night at the MTV Video Music Awards when J.Lo performed her retrospective before she accepted the Video Vanguard Award. Right as she geared up to dance the choreography to “Dinero,” the camera panned to Rodriguez, who recorded the whole thing on his phone (I feel like he could have asked MTV for high-quality footage).

Fans all over Twitter quickly picked up the moment and made it a symbol of relationship goals. The Puerto Rican singer in turn thanked Rodriguez in her speech, saying, “You’re my macho and I love you.”

But this is not the first time A Rod has earned the title of J Lo’s biggest super fan. The former baseball player constantly shares how proud he is of the Lopez’s work on social media and gushes over their bond on late-night TV interviews. A Rod’s the kind of boyfriend who sends flowers signed “Tu Macho,” records impromptu performances on vacation, takes iPhone pictures as hundreds of photographers shoot his girlfriend on the red carpet, and calls J.Lo “Macha 13” on Instagram.

Below, check out a brief history of A Rod being J.Lo’s No. 1 fan.
