The 2023 Oscars had plenty of historic moments. From Michelle Yeoh being the first Asian woman to win Best Actress to Ruth E. Carter being the first Black woman to win two Oscars. When it comes to the Latine talent winning though…there wasn’t the same award recognition besides Guillermo del Toro for Pinocchio

Nevertheless, Latine talent did show up and stun on the champagne carpet. From Harvey Guillen (What We Do in the Shadows) to Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Latine actors used their moment on the 2023 Oscars champagne carpet to make a statement with their fashion choices.

Here are the Latine entertainers that showed up and were ready to show off their fashion chops for the 95th Academy Awards!

1

Harvey Guillén

Harvey Guillén shows that there is nothing better than breaking away from the usual black tux. Guillen took the moment to show off Christian Sirriano’s first plus-size men’s suit complete with a brocade pattern and a dramatic train on the jacket. This is the drama, opulence, and bold look that we want to see more of from men at award shows!

Zoe Saldaña

Zoe Saldaña (Avatar: The Way of Water) kept it simple and couture in a floor-length Fendi gown complete with dangling earrings and a dazzling necklace. The classic silhouette perfectly hugged her body in an effortless way giving life to viewers while showcasing the beauty and joy of simplicity in fashion. The different textures that come through in the photos are just a cherry on top.

Ariana DeBose

Ariana DeBose (West Side Story) brought an art deco feel to her champagne carpet look with crystals giving geometric, old Hollywood glam. The actor was at the 2023 Oscars to present Best Actor in a Supporting Role but her stoned Versace dress was a moment that we were living for last night. The plunging neckline and the thigh-high slit brought the drama that added to her overall look.

4

Pedro Pascal

Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us) proved, yet again, that he is indeed the new daddy in town with his Zegna suit and slicked-back hair. It might not be the most iconic suit we have seen on a red carpet but the simplicity of the shirt that didn’t need a bowtie gave fashion daddy. The actor arrived with his sister, Javiera Balmaceda (Argentina, 1985) and the sibling support is very much a touchstone of Latine families.

5

Monica Barbaro

Monica Barbaro (Top Gun: Maverick) stepped onto the champagne carpet wearing an Elie Saab Haute Couture two-toned gown with a dramatic V neckline. The duality of the delicate blue dress paired with the dark purple front tie skirt allowed for Barbaro to bring drama with her on the champagne carpet. This flowing gown is timeless and has an effortless quality that made fans very excited.

6

Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria, who is the director of the highly anticipated Flamin’ Hot film about alleged Flamin’ Hot Cheetos creator Richard Montanez, also delivered a geometric dress that fits perfectly with old Hollywood and art deco vibes. The Zuhair Murad see-through gown was dripping with crystals and had a tasteful low-plunging neckline. It was clear that when Longoria showed up last night, she showed up as part of Hollywood royalty.

7

Ana de Armas

Ana de Armas (Blonde) channeled Marilyn Monroe with her silver, mermaid scalloped gown designed by Louis Vuitton. It is clear that the entertainer is getting ready to become a Hollywood legend and her fashion choices further prove the trajectory of her star climbing. Her look last night delivered the kind of old Hollywood glam we expect from someone to portray one of Hollywood’s most iconic stars.

Danny Ramirez

Lauren Ridloff (Eternals) was covered in decadent beadwork thanks to Elie Saab. Like most of the picks on this list, she went for that Old Hollywood feel with a twist. The cutouts on the side of the dress, which reveals itself to be an open back, give it a modern look. And the sleek hair, subtle lip, and silver nails tie the look together.
