Step aside, Vicki Vale and Lois Lane. Brazilian actress Bruna Marquezine plays a different kind of superhero love interest. In Blue Beetle, her character, Jenny Kord, isn’t afraid to pull the trigger on decisions that could literally carry earth-shattering consequences. She’s intelligent, resilient, and fearless, and is trying to honor her father’s legacy in the best way she can.

Jenny becomes a de facto member of the Reyes family after she gives their eldest son, recent college graduate Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña), a piece of alien technology that transforms him into the superhero Blue Beetle. She also provides the family access to a trove of powerful weapons to keep Jaime safe from those who want to cause him harm.

Keeping all that in mind, it’s probably safe to say that Marquezine is the Blue Beetle cast member least known to American audiences. After all, this is the first film of her career to hit the big screen nationwide in the U.S.

Learn more about Bruna Marquezine before you head to the movie theater to watch Blue Beetle with five quick facts about her you probably didn’t know.
