In a recent New York Times article about the changes McDonald’s has made to its menu, things like removing high-corn fructose from buns and artificial preservatives from Chicken McNuggets and breakfast foods seemed like the most newsworthy developments. However, if you didn’t scroll down far enough (or you’re not from Southern California), you may have missed that McD’s has developed Latin-inspired breakfast bowls.

“So the company is increasingly testing new products and ingredients in regional markets, which allows it to develop larger supply chains over time,” the article reads. “It is, for instance, testing Latino-inspired breakfast bowls in Southern California, like an egg white scramble with sautéed baby spinach and kale, and a scrambled egg with cheese and chicken chorizo, garnished with McDonald’s hash browns.”

Automatically, we questioned how baby spinach and kale make something Latino-inspired. (Presumably, it’s because it comes with salsa.) But then, we focused on the fact that McDonald’s is trying its hand at chorizo once again. In 2014, McDonald’s rolled out a chorizo burrito. Though as Eater points out, the fast food chain didn’t include the traditional pork chorizo that are necessary components in our arroz a la valenciana, tacos, baleadas, and of course, with our eggs. McDonald’s used a “dark meat chicken flavored with ‘chorizo seasoning’ for the burritos.

For the bowl – which it rolled out  a few months ago – McDonald’s is going a more Tex-Mex route, adding shredded Jack and cheddar cheese, pico de gallo, and hash browns. Perhaps, the chain thought it could win over Latina moms.

But based on what people have posted on Twitter, some don’t believe McD’s can deliver a proper chorizo. Meanwhile, others felt pleasantly surprised by the results. Either way, people had a lot of feelings. Here’s what they had to say:
