In celebration of Our Heritage Month, Instagram has teamed up with a handful of Latine musicians who play to their own distinctive beat. The selected artists embrace multiculturalism by creating sounds that cross borders and allow listeners to hear what the world of Latin music is all about. Through its #SomosLimitless campaign, Instagram is introducing these seven genre-bending artists to the world with an exclusive music video, dropping today Thursday, October 7.

Sky Rompiendo
He’s the man behind the scenes of several reggaeton hits like “Con Altura,” “TKN” and “Safari.” Formerly known as Sky Rompiendo El Bajo, the Colombian producer has become one of the most sought-after talents in the industry today. Rompiendo has worked with superstars like J Balvin, Bad Bunny, and Rosalía. His collaboration with Balvin has resulted in some of the rapper’s best work, including the hit albums Energía, Colores, and OASIS. For #SomosLimitless, Rompiendo produced a new track featuring a special spoken-word piece by Afro-Latina poet Melania Luisa Marte.

Guaynaa
The Puerto Rican rapper, singer, and songwriter is best known for the 2019 smash hit and viral video “Rebota,” which takes listeners back to the Afro-Latino roots of reggaeton in the 1990s. This includes hard dembow beats and perreo dancing. We should also include that he’s currently dating the equally talented Venezuelan-American singer Lele Pons. So, what inspires Guaynaa when he writes and performs his music? “Everything,” he says. “A sound, a conversation, a book.” He also credits Puerto Rican salsa singer Pete “El Conde” Rodriguez for making an impact on him as an artist. “He’s a hero for me,” he says.

Mariah Angeliq
“La Princesa de Miami” (“The Princess of Miami”) is a 21-year-old reggaeton, trap, and R&B artist of Puerto Rican and Cuban descent. The bilingual singer and songwriter creates pop/urban/R&B mixes that brim with messages of female empowerment. Angeliq was recently featured on the global hit song “El Makinon” with Karol G. Billboard has called her “one of the most important and influential female artists within the urban genre.” Angeliq says that participating in the #SomosLimitless music video “means the world to [her].” She also said one of her biggest musical inspirations growing up was Rhianna. “She’s so unapologetic,” Angeliq says. “I feel like that’s what I represent – la toxica.”

Adriel Favela
Favela is a pop star who is part of the new wave of regional Mexican artists who are bilingual and bicultural. Through his music, Favela is experimenting with his lyrics and style. Recently, he signed a recording contract with Universal Music Latino’s Fonovisa Records. He says he is excited to “showcase [his] creative ideas in the purest and most honest way possible.”

Esteman Mateus Williamson
The Colombian songwriter, dancer, and visual artist, who is openly gay, also goes by the stage name Esteman. Originally from Bogotá, he is a two-time Latin Grammy nominee who is known for his catchy melodies and eclectic beats. Billboard says that Esteman is “shaping up as one of the alternative music proposals with the greatest potential in Latin America.” For him, being a part of the #SomosLimitless music video means that he can show off the pride he has for his Latinx culture and identity and for his role in the LGBTQ community. “That’s what makes it so beautiful,” he says. “Through my music and through these different voices, together we are creating a brotherhood, each person sharing a different color of our Latinidad.”

Elisama
The Afro-Latine rapper is a rising social media star. She has earned her 469,000 followers on Instagram with videos where she’s showing off her skills as a dancer, singer, and makeup artist. In the music industry, Elisama is best known for tracks like “No Me Gusta El Reggaeton,” “Hasta Abajo” and “Dame Like.” Elisama is the first-ever female artist from her home country of Panama to sign with a major record label.

Melania Luisa Marte
For the #SomosLimitless video, Afro-Latine poet Melania Luisa Marte worked with Sky Rompiendo to produce the new track. Marte’s poetry explores several topics from her life, including her Caribbean roots, Black feminism, and self-love. Her most popular poem, “Afro-Latina,” was featured on Instagram TV for National Poetry Month. The video has earned more than nine million views. Marte’s work has also been featured by Ain’t I Latina, The Root, Teen Vogue, Facebook, Telemundo, and People En Español.
