These 7 Songs by Taurus Artists Will Help You Ring In the Season
Art by Stephany Torres for Remezcla.
Taurus, stand up! Often described as sensual, hardworking, and loyal, we’re continuing our monthly listicle with Taurus, which approximately runs from Apr. 20 to May 20. We’ve already celebrated Capricorns, ready to hear all about the second Earth sign of the year?
The Latine music industry is full of creative Taureans that we keep on our radar. One of the most beloved Taurus artists is Mon Laferte, whom we featured last year alongside other artists like Xavi, Junior H, Anahí, nsqk, iLe, and Kevin Kaarl. This year, we are celebrating talented artists of the same caliber, like Argentinean star Six Sex, the música mexicana figurehead Jesús Ortiz Paz (JOP) of Fuerza Regida, and Colombian singer-songwriter Esteman. We are also toasting to Mexican-American songstress Marisela, Colombian hitmaker J Balvin, Italian (and beloved by Latines worldwide) singer-songwriter Laura Pausini, and Mexican icon Alejandro Fernández.
Sure, the aforementioned artists are known across different genres and for reaching various milestones throughout their respective careers, but they also have similar traits based on what categorizes their diligent Earth sign. Talking about being hard workers, take J Balvin’s impressive Latino Gang reggaeton repertoire that is now a staple in the genre. Another hardworking artist is Pausini, who continues to reinvent herself and capture our attention with covers of today’s pop icons. Both of these artists demonstrate a Taurus’ eagerness to stay booked and busy.
From Six Sex’s latest fiery track to Fernández’s classic makeover, here are seven songs that commemorate these music juggernauts on their birthday month.
And for any Taureans reading this: Happy birthday!
Six Sex – “boyfree”
Blowing out her candles on Apr. 23, the Argentinean temptress is one of our favorite Tauruses. Known for her sensual performances and risqué lyrics, the young artist represents the bull’s sensual trait to the max. Her hard-working trait is also evident in the number of performances she’s given in the last year alone. After a Latin American festival run, she successfully wrapped up her debut U.S. tour, showcasing her high energy to both national and international audiences around the map. Not only that, but she also kept popping out catchy singles during the U.S. tour, which checks out with her zodiac sign’s willingness to stay busy at all times. We love that for her (and us!).
Jesús Ortiz Paz (JOP) – “No Me Dejes Nunca”
Música mexicana reinvented itself in the last decade, and Fuerza Regida is one of the leading forces behind the change. Celebrating another year around the sun on May 13, Fuerza Regida’s JOP is a hardworking Taurus to toast to this season. Besides touring and releasing anthems like “Marlboro Rojo,” “TU SANCHO,” and “COQUETA,” the vocalist is also an entrepreneur with other side projects on his plate. He runs his record label, Street Mob Records, and spearheads the diverse música mexicana and hip-hop Don’t Fall In Love Fest in San Bernardino, CA. JOP is also known to give back to his community in San Bernardino, which echoes a Taurus’ loyal trait.
Esteman – “Piensa En Mí”
Colombian singer Esteman is celebrating his birthday this season (May 4). Known for his hits like “Te Alejas Más De Mí” with Daniela Spalla, “Fuimos Amor,” and “Mr.Trance,” the artist has accumulated over two million listeners on Spotify alone. As far as Taurus characteristics go, Esteman fully embodies being loyal to himself—including being open about his sexuality. “I was the first Colombian artist to speak so freely about my sexuality, so inevitably, society and the industry tried to put me in a certain category,” he told Remezcla in 2024. “When I came out [in 2018], I started getting comments like, ‘Oh, so Esteman makes gay music now?’ Which is ironic, considering the music that gets played at gay clubs is usually by female pop stars who are not gay. So I question that because, at any of my shows, you’ll see families with children, as well as LGBTQ+ people. Juan Gabriel and Miguel Bosé came up at a time when they couldn’t discuss their sexuality publicly, so I’m happy to keep breaking new ground while at the same time not caring about labels so much.”
Marisela – “Dónde Estés, Dónde Estoy”
Born on Apr. 24, Marisela is celebrating her birthday this month. The Mexican-American diva is a staple in Latine culture, particularly for her señora classics such as “La Pareja Ideal” featuring Marco Antonio Solís, “Sin Él,” and “Tu Dama De Hierro.” For those unfamiliar with her game, she’s also known for her sensuality in true Taurus fashion. A blonde bombshell, if you will. Nowadays, she continues to rock her blonde hair and also collaborates with artists of this generation. Recently, she released “Dónde Estés, Dónde Estoy” alongside Carlos Rivera, who we featured earlier this year during Pisces season.
J Balvin – “Pal Agua”
J Balvin is celebrating his birthday on May 7. Known for being a pillar in pushing Latine music mainstream, the Colombian reggaetonero is one to toast to this season—and rightfully so. As previously mentioned, his hardworking nature is evident in his efforts to take his brand of reggaeton to a global scale. Paired with his well-known Taurean trait of being ambitious, it’s no surprise that we sing his 2016 hits like “Mi Gente,” “Con Altura,” and “No Me Conoce” as if they were released this year.
Laura Pausini – “¿PORQUÉ TE VAS?”
Pausini is beloved on an international scale—especially by Latines. Her classics like “Víveme,” “Entre Tú y Mil Mares,” and “En Cambio No” still hit today, and more than likely make a millennial shed a tear or two. What makes her artistry go beyond the classics is that she continues to push her music to new audiences by covering songs like Bad Bunny’s “TURiSTA,” as previously mentioned. Recently, she continued this trend by covering other hits, such as Jeanette’s “¿PORQUÉ TE VAS?,” Gianluca Grignani’s “Mi Historia Entre Tus Dedos,” and Shakira’s “Antología” on herYO CANTO 2 album. What a hardworking Taurus!
Alejandro Fernández – “El Rey”
Born on Apr. 24, Fernández is another Taurus blowing his candles this season. There’s no doubt that, beyond his family legacy, the Mexican artist has made a name for himself today. With a passionate and impressive vocal range, Fernández isn’t backing down from the Latine music realm, even though he has enough hits to retire with. And he’s not only successful in his music, either. This determined Taurus is now extending his creativity in the fashion world. Recently, he made his “HIJO DEL REY” collection debut for his ARRRE clothing line at Mexico’s Fashion Week. We’ll keep an eye out for his future ventures!
