From Danny Trejo to Karla Souza: Celebs Respond to Those Impacted by L.A. Fires

As wildfires continue to devastate the Los Angeles area, thousands of residents are still grappling with evacuation orders and widespread destruction. Reports indicate that over 150,000 residents are under mandatory evacuation, with an additional 166,000 under evacuation warnings. The L.A. fires have already destroyed over 10,000 structures, with estimated damages expected to surpass $8 billion.

In response, several Latine celebrities have taken to social media to share messages of support and solidarity with those affected. Below are some of their statements.

John Leguizamo

The actor and comedian shared a photo provided by NBC News to show the destruction in the area. He captioned his photo with the words, “Sending all our love out to you! Los Angeles, one of America’s top cities!”

Danny Trejo

The Machete star posted a solemn photo of the California hills on fire and the words, “Pray for California.” He captioned the photo with his own words: “Praying everyone is safe.” His fellow actor and Blood In Blood Out co-star Jesse Borrego commented with a few prayer hand emojis.

Jessica Alba

Sin City actress and businesswoman Jessica Alba posted photos of the L.A. Fire Department and first responders thanked them for doing their best to put out the flames and bringing support to residents. “Devastating – so many in our community experiencing the unimaginable,” she wrote. “We are praying for you, we love you.”

Mayan Lopez

The Lopez vs. Lopez star also shared photos of the L.A. Fire Department and talked about how much the city means to her. “I love Los Angeles. I was born and raised here and to see her in flames like this in this way is heartbreaking and devastating.”

Mario Lopez

The actor and TV host shared with his followers that he was one of the thousands of residents that had to evacuate the area. “We’re all safe… God bless all the firefighters and first responders.”

Jaime Camil

Mexican actor Jaime Camil (Jane the Virgin) shared how concerned he is for his brother and friends, who were evacuated. “Please take care of yourselves and stay safe out there. My heart goes out to all of you during this difficult time.

Karla Souza

The Mexican actress posted a video of the smoky area, including shots of Palisades Elementary Charter School. “The Palisades has been our family’s home for 11 years—a place where my children were born, grew up, and were surrounded by the love and care of our wonderful neighbors and this incredible community. To see it now, facing such unimaginable devastation, breaks my heart beyond words.

Judy Reyes

Actress Judy Reyes (Scrubs) posted images of firefighters and thanked them for everything they’re doing. “[They] are tirelessly working around the clock and selflessly risking their own lives to save the lives of others in the California wildfires.”

Noemi Gonzalez

Actress Noemi Gonzalez (East Los High) shared a prayer with her followers and tips for those who have been evacuated, including what to pack before leaving. She also shared a video of her dog looking out at the smoky area. “Thank you to everyone who reached out to me. Thank you to everyone who provided a resource to someone.”

Fernanda Romero

The Mexican actress and model shared photos and videos of the fire and also added an image with the emergency shelter contact information in the area. “To those who had to flee their homes, leaving behind memories, cherished belongings, and even their beloved pets—my thoughts and prayers are with you.”
