The return of the in-person Latin Alternative Music Conference in New York City is finally here. This year, the conference takes place from July 6 to July 9 at the Stewart Hotel.

For those you may not know, the LAMC is a one-stop-shop glimpse at the current state of the music industry’s Latine alternative scene. Their jam-packed schedules include panels, exhibits, showcases, art, and networking opportunities for LAMC registered attendees.

This year, the conference starts with a Wednesday morning meditation session. Then, registered individuals will have the opportunity to participate in the following panels:

  • The “Building your Fanbase” panel
  • “Creating and Executing an Effective Release Plan” panel
  • The “Finances for Different Stages of Your Career” panel

The first day’s closing show is the LAMC Sounds from Spain Showcase at the DROM NYC venue featuring performances by Valeria Castro, Tribade, Lao Ra, Marlena, and an unnamed special surprise guest.

After the initial morning meditation session, Thursday’s events include the “A&R / Artist Development and The Creative Process” panel; the “LAMC Q&A Session,”; the “Inspiring Stories and Practical Advice from Women Making a Difference” panel; and wraps up with the “Radio in Latin America and Beyond” conversation. The second day’s closing show is the LAMC Acoustic Showcase at SOB’s, featuring artists: Elsten Torres, Pehuenche, Del Mismo Racimo, YADAM, Airbag, Zoe Gotusso, ZETAK, and GALE.

On Friday, the events continue off-site with a Meta masterclass, a Spotify masterclass, the LAMC/SummerStage: Coney Island Show, the Chile to Canada! Showcase at DROM NYC, and BRESH at SOBs. The LAMC event concludes at the LAMC/SummerStage: Central Park Show, featuring performers: Carla Morrison, Love of Lesbian, and DannyLux.

During the last two years of the pandemic’s peak, the LAMC transformed its conference into a visual experience. According to their press team, their latest digital installment in April garnered over 100 thousand viewers who participated in their virtual conferences.

Now that it’s back in person, here are five things we’re excited to check out this year.

1

Back In Person

This time, the conference is back in the flesh. We’re excited to meet and reunite with the industry and participate in showcases and panels outside the computer’s screen. It’s worth mentioning that a couple of shows are free and open to the public. So whether you’re a registered participant or not, you can get a taste of what the conference is all about.

2

Emerging Artists Performing

Throughout the showcases, you’ll notice that there are new and exciting faces to look forward to. This year, some buzzing names include Mexican-American singer DannyLux at the LAMC/SummerStage, Argentinean singer-songwriter Zoe Gustosso, Mexican artist Pehuenche, Colombian singer-songwriter Pitizion, and Puerto Rican singer-songwriter GALE.

A&R/Artist Development and The Creative Process Panel Moderated by Joel Moya

Remezcla’s Director of Artists & Label Relations, Joel Moya, will be moderating the “A&R / Artist Development and The Creative Process Panel” on Thursday, July 7. Moya says: “Musicians never forget a meaningful mentor who had an early impact on their career; the ‘A&R / Artist Development and The Creative Process’ panel will be a means to create a positive impact on an audience that’s hungry to receive the keys to success in their specific roles in the music industry.”

4

BRESH At SOBs

On Friday, July 8 the LAMC participants will have the opportunity to experience Argentina’s dance party BRESH. Why not get down to BRESH to end the week on a high note?

LAMC Offsites at Spotify and Meta

Our last highlight of this year’s LAMC edition includes the offsites that will provide Spotify and Meta masterclasses to LAMC attendees. During these events, there will also be selected artist chats and performances by emerging talent. It’s a great opportunity not only for the up-and-coming artists to meet with industry folks but for the industry to see who’s the next big name in Latine music.
