The Summer Olympics are almost here, and competitors from our communities are set to compete in many different events and disciplines from gymnastics to hockey. That includes a whole slew of talented Latino athletes.

With the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics featuring over 200 countries and 400 events, it’s hard to know who to pay attention to, so we’ve rounded up a list of 10 Latino athletes from different countries and disciplines to look out for during the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.

Alison dos Santos, Brazil

Alison dos Santos is a Brazilian sprinter specializing in the 400-meter hurdles. He won a bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games, won the 2022 World Championship, and is the third fastest athlete in the history of the event. In Paris, Dos Santos will be going for gold.

Lázaro Martínez, Cuba

Lázaro Martínez is a Cuban athlete who specializes in the triple jump and long jump. He won the silver medal at the 2023 World Championships in the triple jump event and has now emerged as a significant contender for the event in the 2024 Paris Olympics. 

Kevin Quintero, Colombia

Kevin Quintero will be one of Colombia’s flagbearers at the Paris 2024 Inaugural Ceremony. The track cyclist, who specializes in sprinting events, has won numerous medals in continental games and championships and won the Keirin competition at the 2023 UCI Track Cycling World Championships.

Nicolás Bono, Argentina

Nicolás Bono, a handball player on Argentina’s team has quickly emerged as a star in the making. He’s already been making a name for himself in European leagues, he was the team’s top scorer in the Pan American Games final in 2023 and he’s hoping to help his team make some Olympic history.

Jhonatan Manuel Narváez, Ecuador

Jhonatan Manuel Narváez, an Ecuadorian professional road racing cyclist, won a gold medal at the Pan American Games in Santiago 2023. He goes into the discipline in Paris 2024 as a strong contender in a discipline where Ecuador’s Richard Carapaz won the last gold medal.

Lucca Mesinas, Perú

Lucca Messinas is a Peruvian surfer who has won two Pan American Games gold medals and goes into the 2024 Paris Olympic Games hoping he can put his country on the map on a much bigger stage. 

Kevin Berlin and Randal Willars, Mexico

Kevin Berlin and Randal Willars are Mexican divers and will be competing in both individual and synchronized diving at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Both have shined in other competitions before the Olympics, and represent one of Mexico’s highest hopes at not just a medal, but hopefully a gold. And we couldn’t include one without including the other.

Victor Montalvo, United States

Mexican American Victor Montalvo makes his debut in the Olympics in breaking, a sport making its debut on the Olympic stage. Montalvo is a 2-time champion of Red Bull BC One and a gold medal winner in the 2022 World Games in the Dancesport competition. 

Uriel Canjura, El Salvador

Uriel Canjura is a Salvadoran badminton player. He won a bronze medal at the 2023 Pan American Games and a silver medal at both the 2023 and 2024 Pan Am Championships. He is set to be the first-ever Salvadoran badminton player at the Olympics.
