The road to Super Bowl LIX begins this weekend, with two games on January 11 and three games on January 12. Fourteen teams, seven in each conference, will play in the NFL playoffs—with the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs having the first weekend off due to being the best team in their respective conferences.
What Latino players still have a chance to make it to the Super Bowl? The list includes sixteen different players, double the number from last year. It’s still a very low number considering NFL resoters are made up 53 players per team, but the jump represents a marked increase for the community. Our representation in the league is growing, and so is our communities interest in the NFL.
During the 2024 we even got our first NFL game played in South America. It took place in São Paulo, Brazil. Mexico had previously hosted NFL games.
In addition, this years playoffs teams feature Latino representation both in the coaching staff and in the front office, with the Pittsburgh Steelers General Manager Omar Khan, having Honduran heritage and the Vikings Deffensive Coordinator, Brian Flores, also having Honduran heritage. Meanwhile, Mike Sullivan, the Steelers Offensive Assistant, has Mexican heritage.

There’s no doubt that we still have a long way to go when it comes to representation in the NFL, and when it comes to making the game feel like something our communities can invest in. But it’s also true that just in the past few years the names and numbers have been growing exponentially, and a league that before didn’t seem to have a place for us, either on the field or off, now seems to be making an effort to receive us with open arms.
So before the NFL playoffs start, here are all the Latino players who you can catch during the NFL playoffs, what team they play for and what position they play.
