We’re already in the second round of the NCAA Division I Women’s basketball tournament. Yes, this is what people call March Madness. And it’s already underway. But if you’re a first-time watcher, what is the name about? Who can we expect to see? How many teams are involved? The answers are simpler than you might think.

March Madness is the name given to the basketball tournament in the highest division of college basketball. It is a 68-team single-elimination tournament held every spring to crown the national champion. Despite the name, it usually stretches into April. It culminates in the Final Four and then the Championship game. The 2026 tournament will run from March 18 to April 5, with games including the First Round, Second Round, Sweet 16, Elite Eight, and the Final Four.

And the names present might not be as familiar to some as WNBA names, but that doesn’t mean they’re not worth paying attention to. Here we break down the Latinas worth keeping an eye out for during this year’s March Madness.
