Cardi B, Shakira, & Tainy Nominated for 2021 MTV VMA’s

The 2021 MTV Video Music Awards nominations are out, and a few of nuestra gente are on the list. Cardi B.’s mega-hit “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion received a nomination for Video of the Year, Best Hip Hop, and a VMA for Best Collaboration nod. It faces some competition against DJ Khaled’s “Popstar” featuring Drake and Justin Bieber, Doja Cat featuring SZA with “Kiss Me More,” Ed Sheeran’s “Bad Habits,” Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” and The Weekend with “Save Your Tears.”

Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion aren’t the only ones with a successful collaboration, according to the VMA nominations. Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak as Silk Sonic and their hit “Leave the Door Open” also received some nominations. The duo’s hit is up for Best R&B Song and Best Editing. “Leave the Door Open” competes against Cardi B’s “WAP” for Song of the Year.

In the Best Latin VMA Category, the competition is going to be a tough one. Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez’s “Dákiti” is up against Billie Eilish and Rosalía’s “Lo Vas A Olvidar,” Black Eyed Peas and Shakira’s “Girl Like Me,” J Balvin, Dua Lipa, Bad Bunny, Tainy’s “Un Dia (One Day),” Karol G’s “Bichota” and finally, Maluma’s “Hawái.”

 

The MTV VMAs airs on September 12 from the Barclay Center in New York City.
