It’s been a constant challenge for massive scheduled events since 2020. One week we are allowed to move forward as a society as it is labeled to be safer, but then the next a new COVID-19 variant surfaces and sets us back. Alas, entertainment continues — the show must go on. And in that fashion, after being postponed from the original Jan. 31 date, the 64th Grammy Awards will now be celebrated at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 3, 2022.
“We are excited to take the Grammys to Las Vegas for the very first time and to put on a world-class show. From the moment we announced the postponement of the original show date, we have been inundated with heartfelt messages of support and solidarity from the artist community. We are humbled by their generosity and grateful for their unwavering commitment to the Grammy Awards and the Academy’s mission,” the Recording Academy’s CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said regarding the move.
The two major annual events held to accompany the Grammys — the pre-Grammy party and the Person of the Year ceremony — are also expected to be rescheduled during this week and will have official dates soon.
We have already been celebrating the Latin Grammys hosted at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas since 2009, so this move isn’t out of the norm for our Latine talent. It wouldn’t be the first trip to the desert for many of the Latin Grammy-nominated talent such as Bad Bunny, J. Balvin, Karol G, Rauw Alejandro, Mon Laferte, and Camilo, to name a few who have already graced a red carpet at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
But, which of our Latine favorites will take home a gringo Grammy? What fashion moments and crossover performances are we going to see this year? We will know soon as everyone prepares for this official rescheduled date and location in Sin City.
