The name Geko Jones should be familiar to anyone who knows about tropical bass. The NYC-based DJ/Producer and one half of the Que Bajo?! parties is a known figure around Brooklyn and the blogosphere for his excellent taste in old-school cumbia tunes and modern bangers.

His latest Afro-Colombian mix is an hour+ long affair that starts off with his remix of “Un Fuego De Sangre Pura” by the legendary Los Gaiteros De San Jacinto. Appropriate as he’s hosting them Thursday, July 26th at Le Poisson Rouge. He also throws in his mash-up of Frikstailers/Maria Mulata’s “Pa La Escuela Nene” for good measure.

There are lots of old-school cumbia and bachata jams in here that will get your tía dancing along. That is, until, the airhorns and flashes of hip-hop crop in. We don’t mind it at all though. Jay-Z and bachata? Bring that shit! Click below to listen:

Also sure to check out Geko Jones live this week at his LAMC closing party at Que Bajo?! feat. the Subsuelo crew. Africanismo Presents info below:
