The Malagueña darling Anni B Sweet (née Ana López Rodríguez) makes a return with a forthcoming sophomore album titled Oh Monsters! (via the Spanish label Subterfuge, to be released April 24th). Sounding somewhere in between Lykke Li and Lo Blondo of Hello Seahorse!, the intro-track “At Home” featured in this ‘the-aural-intimacy-of-the-recording-studio’ teaser, hones a remarkable sound that’s beautifully structured with ambient lo-tempo melodies and the haunting yet crystalline vocals of Anni that brings chills to your spine. The entire album seems very promising, with notable musicians and producers partaking in the production process including collabos with Guillermo Galvan of Vetusta Morla, Javier Doria (who’s featured in her cover of A-Ha’s “Take on Me”), and produced by La Phil Vinall (Radiohead, Placebo, Pulp). The sweet, lucid vocals of this Spanish singer-songwriter will be on my mind all day.
