Believe it or not, Fyre Festival is making a comeback. After the unsuccessful festival made headlines back in 2017 when it failed to meet its luxurious promises, it appears that it’s coming back. But this time, in Mexico. On Sept. 9, the American businessman and festival co-founder Billy McFarland announced Fyre Festival II’s return on Apr. 25 to 28, 2025.

“Fyre Festival II is happening April 25, 2025, so we’re seven and a half months away,” McFarland revealed to the The Today Show. “We have a private island off the coast of Mexico in the Caribbean, and we have an incredible production company who’s handling everything from soup to nuts.”

The original Fyre Festival never happened due to failed logistics, security, and preparation. Ticket holders showed up to the festival grounds in The Bahamas only to be met by mayhem, a lack of transportation, and less-than-luxurious tents. Co-founded by McFarland and American rapper Ja Rule, the festival became known as a fraud after the organizers didn’t deliver the festival’s promised luxurious accommodations. Although the event was promoted by A-list social media influencers like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, the reality was that the organizers didn’t even meet the expected food standards.

Now, it appears McFarland – who served prison time for wire fraud after the festival’s failure – has plans to bring a second edition of Fyre Festival to the Mexican Caribbean. He told the aforementioned media outlet that the festival’s production company is “developing and building out the private island for the actual festival festivities.” However, he has yet to book artists – but announced that they will also be booking other types of talent, like karate combat.

As far as costs go, the ticket ranges from $500 to packages that cost from $1,400 to $1.1 million. The most expensive ticket package will include being on luxurious yachts and having a “luxurious experience.” “It’s about the adventure. So you’ll be scuba diving with me. You’ll be bouncing around to other islands and other countries on small planes,” he said.
