The 34th Annual GLAAD Media Awards will honor Christina Aguilera and Bad Bunny for their contributions to the LGBTQ community. The two Latine music superstars are being recognized for their monumental contributions to the LGBTQ community.

Aguilera will receive GLAAD’s Advocate for Change Award for her activism. The Grammy Award winner is being recognized for her efforts in championing LGBTQ rights and the fight against HIV. Her single “Beautiful” was recognized at the 2003 GLAAD Media Awards, where she dedicated the song to the LGBTQ community.

Bad Bunny will receive the Vanguard award for his allyship to the LGBTQ community. Benito’s recognition puts him alongside previous honorees such as Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, and Janet Jackson. “Bad Bunny uses his role as one of the world’s most popular music artists to boldly shine a light on LGBTQ people and issues, including transgender equality and ending violence against trans women of color,” said GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis in a press release.

Last month, the 2023 GLAAD Media Awards recognized several Latine musicians in their nominations, including Demi Lovato, Anitta, and Omar Apollo. Lovato’s Holy Fvck album earned her a nomination for Outstanding Music Artist. Anitta’s album Versions of Me, featuring her monster hit “Envolver,” was also nominated for Outstanding Music Artist. Omar, the only Latine artist among the nominees for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist, had a breakthrough with his viral hit “Evergreen (You Didn’t Deserve Me At All)” from his LP Ivory.

The 2023 GLAAD Media Awards will be split between two ceremonies. Aguilera and Bad Bunny will be recognized at the first ceremony in Los Angeles on March 30. The second will take place in New York City on May 13.
