Bad Bunny’s Un Verano Sin Ti just received its first-ever Grammy win. The blockbuster album won Best Música Urbana Album at the 65th annual Grammy Awards, taking place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, CA.
“This is really easy. Humbled. It’s easy because I just made this album with love and passion, and when you do things with love and passion, everything is easier. Life is easier,” Bad Bunny said in English during his acceptance speech. He continued by thanking everyone who listened to his music. He then switched to speaking in Spanish and thanked everyone who formed part of Un Verano Sin Ti.
To wrap up his speech, he said: “I want to dedicate this award to Puerto Rico, the cradle and capital of Reggaeton in the entire world. I want to dedicate it to all the legends and especially to the new artists, not only the legends but the new artists that keep it alive and [are] refreshing the movement. Let’s keep taking this genre to another level.”
Fans are excited about the win. A Twitter user wrote: “The Best Música Urbana Album category was only introduced last year, and bad bunny won for el ultimo tour del mundo. benito is taking that repeat win for un verano sin ti!” Another Twitter user wrote: “They moved the Best Música Urbana Album category to the main show just so Bad Bunny could have a moment. I respect it.”
It’s already been a huge night for El Conejo Malo. Before the win, he opened this year’s Grammy awards with a merengue party. He performed “El Apagón” and “Después de la Playa.” The merengue composer Dahian El Apechao joined El Conejo Malo during the latter performance. He was also accompanied by dancers and cabezudos.
Besides this epic win, Benito has two other pending categories remaining at this year’s Grammy awards. He is also nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance for “Moscow Mule” and Album of the Year.
