Is 2020 shaping up to be the year of urbano’s lord and savior, Bad Bunny? That’s rhetorical; the answer is already yes. Our beloved Conejo Malo returned with his sophomore release, YHLQMDLG—a.k.a. Yo Hago Lo Que Me Da La Gana—on Friday, February 29, and has steadily swept his lovestruck masses and urbano newbies alike ever since. Of course, that’s not all.

Now with little less than a weekend of streaming time under its belt, YHLQMDLG has catapulted Bad Bunny to the top of Spotify’s most-streamed artists’ list and emerged as the streaming platform’s biggest debut of 2020 yet. When Benito’s doing everything his way, there’s little else we should expect.

According to El Nuevo Día, Bad Bunny’s YHLQMDLG racked up four tracks on Spotify’s top 10 most-streamed singles list within only 24 hours of its release. That includes lead single “Ignorantes” featuring Panamanian phenom, Sech (originally released on Valentine’s Day 2020) in fourth place with 5.04 million streams, “La difícil” in sixth place with 4.945 million streams, followed by “Si veo a tu mamá” and “La santa” with Daddy Yankee in seventh and tenth place, respectively.

We wouldn’t be surprised if other YHLQMDLG cuts make it into Spotify’s top-ten soon enough; tracks like “Vete” (#11), “Pero ya no” (#14) and “Yo Perreo Sola (#17) are rounding in close. Thanks to these high streams (over 61 million on Day 1, to be exact), Twitter account Spotify Daily Data reports that YHLQMDLG marks the biggest debut of 2020 and the 7th biggest debut on Spotify of all time.

As for Benito himself, Spotify Daily Data also claims that Bad Bunny “was the #1 most streamed artist on Spotify last Feb. 29 with 78.18 million streams from 9.07 million listeners. This is the biggest daily streams from an artist this 2020.” Oof.

There’s nothing quite like a 20-palo strategy by our very own Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio to solidify his place among streaming’s upper echelon—add the fact that we’re not even mad about the lengthy album, and he’s got it made.
