Bandcamp announced on Tuesday its plan to support independent artists by waiving its revenue share this Friday, March 20, on all purchases, from digital tracks to physical copies and artist merchandise.

“Artists have been hit especially hard as tours and shows are being canceled for the foreseeable future,” Co-Founder and CEO Ethan Diamond wrote in yesterday’s Bandcamp Daily post. Diamond expressed hopes that the 24-hour effort will spark a spike in sales, boosting income for artists while also elevating “awareness around the pandemic’s impact on musicians everywhere.”

Last night, Don Giovanni Records pledged to waive its own share of all Bandcamp sales. The label includes releases from Latinx acts Alice Bag and Downtown Boys.

If your fave independent Latinx artist or band is on Bandcamp, Friday’s definitely the time to support, if you have the means.
