It finally happened: Selena Gomez and BLACKPINK met in person, and there are photos to prove it. The long-awaited encounter between the global superstars went down earlier this month, so of course, their fans are rejoicing.

Gomez and the K-pop group linked up when they released their summer single “Ice Cream” back in 2020, becoming part of a growing list of Latine and K-pop collaborations. Unfortunately, the women couldn’t film the music video together at the time because of restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Despite the circumstances, fans of both artists held on to hope that the women could perform “Ice Cream” together someday or, at the very least, meet in person as soon as the global emergency subsided. It looks like their patience finally paid off, as Gomez revealed she met the members recently.

On Nov. 26, Gomez uploaded a backstage photo with BLACKPINK to her Instagram account with the caption “Selpink chillin’,” a reference to the nickname fans gave them as a unit. The upload timing was curious to fans because BLACKPINK wrapped up the U.S. leg of their Born Pink Tour on Nov. 20 in Los Angeles.

“Selpink were at Newark concert yall, not LA. Look at [the] Day 2 fit,” wrote one sleuthy fan as they pointed out that the outfits BLACKPINK wore for the second concert in Newark (Nov. 15) matched the looks they wore when they met Gomez.

“I love you Selena for supporting and going to [BLACKPINK’s concert], Selena best Blink,” wrote one fan on Twitter.

“Selena and BP finally meets [sic]. I thought I’d have to wait [a] few more years,” wrote another fan on social media.

“Selena showed up at [the BLACKPINK] concert and they still didn’t give us [an] Ice Cream performance,” wrote a fan lamenting that the quintet didn’t perform together.

Gomez was just one of several celebrities to attend BLACKPINK’s Born Pink Tour in the U.S. Stars such as Usher, Olivia Rodrigo, and Marvel actor Simu Liu were in attendance at different stops of the concert trek. Camilla Cabello even made a surprise appearance to perform her song “Liar” with Jisoo at the tour’s Los Angeles stop on Nov. 19.

This might not be the last time we hear from BLACKPINK anytime soon – especially in the Latine music world. After working with the likes of Cardi B and Ozuna, a collaboration with Christian Nodal may be pending, and Karol G named the quartet as a dream collaboration.
