The annual BIME festival is debuting in Bogota, Colombia, for the first time ever and it is loaded with an impressive lineup of internationally known Latine artists to get excited about. BIME originally comes from Bilbao in Spain’s Basque region, where it has been running for 10 years. BIME is now opening itself up to the Latin American market, which is incredibly exciting for Latin American artists.
Why is BIME opening itself up to Colombia? The answer is obvious: Latin American music is huge right now, with a renewed global interest in hip-hop, reggaeton, and experimental music coming from Latine artists all over the Americas. Why not bring the festival to the place with burgeoning talent ready to be showcased on a global stage? Karol G, Maluma, and rising star Nanpa Básico are all from Colombia. BIME has long brought those artists to Spain, but finally, it’s reversing the exchange. It’s about time!
For four days starting today (May 4), BIME Live — the live music component of the larger festival — will feature all genres of music, from reggaeton and hip-hop to classic folk and dance music. And the lineup? Incredible! Nathy Peluso is headlining, bringing her Latin GRAMMY award-winning music to the festival. She is coming to Colombia fresh off of her stint at Coachella, where she and other Latin American artists, like Karol G and Pabllo Vittar, had the world watching in awe.
BIME is also featuring local talent like Nanpa Básico, a rising star in the world of Colombian hip-hop. The heavily tattooed Colombiano combines beautiful guitar-laden music with sick bars and beats. Last week, he released this music video for “Pedacito de Tierra” featuring Lefty SM, showing off his unique combination of styles.
Other major artists expected to perform include Rap Bang Club, The Change, and Recycled J, who are all ready to show Bogota what they’ve got. There will also be forums, seminars, and presentations about the music industry from an insider perspective. This is the place to be for fans AND artists!
