Today we have a treat for you of the streaming kind. A couple of days ago we told you about Nacional Records’ plan to release an Os Mutantes tribute album, featuring covers by Cafe Tacuba, Aterciopelados, Fito Paez, and the man behind the Mutantes, Sergio Dias himself. The project, dubbed El Justiciero Cha, Cha, Cha (Omar Giammarco takes title track responsibilities, turning it into an over-the-top, swaying tango experiment), is 18 tracks deep filled with all the psych-tropicalia goodness that characterized the Brazilian band. So take our word, this trib album is real good.
If you’re still not sure, then take an ear gander yourself and stream three advance tracks below. You have Uruguayan crooner Martín Buscaglia’s “Beso exajerado,” which skitters like a Latin Shaft (Chaft! ); Cafe Tacuba’s slow and steady “Oh Relogio;” and Aterciopelados‘ duet with Dias, the wonderful chants of “Vida de Cachorro.”
Stream the three standouts below and cop the album on November 9th to experience the other 15 worthy homages.
