It was an interesting year for that dubious genre known as “Latin Alternative”: Latin rockers based in the US came out with refreshing, bilingual tunes (Volumen Cero, Kinky), the insatiable kept pumping out infectious beats (Calle 13, Aterciopelados), and we got hooked on cumbia songs that were not even released in 08 (Damas Gratis). But what caught our attention more than anything was the mashups between cumbia and hip hop, electronica and even humor (Fauna, El Hijo de La Cumbia, Amandititita).
