It was a busy Sunday night (Dec. 6) for Cardi B after Twitter users called her “tone-deaf” and “insensitive” when she asked her followers if she should spend $88,000 on a purse she really wanted.

Twitter was ablaze wondering why Cardi was going to drop thousands on a luxury item when so many Americans were still suffering from the stifling economic effects of the pandemic.

Along with calling her out for wanting to spend so much on a purse, Twitter users gave her suggestions on how she could spend her money instead. Some asked her to give 88 struggling families $1,000 each to help them get through the holidays. Others wanted her to donate the money to help raise funds for DACA applications. There were also people who shot their shot and just left their Cash App username in hopes that Cardi would send them a few bucks.

Cardi, however, wasn’t having it. She reminded people how much money she’s donated to charities her entire career by posting headlines from news outlets like, “Cardi B Donates $1 Million for Coronavirus Relief” and “Cardi B Donates 20,000 Meal Supplements to New York-Area Medical Staff.” She also told

Twitter users to show her proof of what they have donated this year and she would match their donation dollar for dollar to the same charity.

We’re not sure if Cardi ended up buying the purse, but signs point to her splurging before calling it a night on social media.

Now, the only question we have left to ask is whether she has the shoes to match.
