The rumors are true. There is a Lizzo and Cardi B collaboration on the way. Lizzo is releasing her first new single in two years, and it will feature rapper Cardi B. The ladies confirmed the news via Lizzo’s Instagram earlier this week.
In the post, Lizzo can be seen Facetiming the contact ‘Rumors…feat.” (“Rumors” is the song’s title.) On the other end of the call is a horizontal Cardi B who appears to be lying down, which isn’t a surprise since the rapper is pregnant with her second child with husband Offset.
“Good morning mother f—er!” says Lizzo when the call first connects..
“Hey,” replies Cardi. “Wait what the f—. What’s going on?” says Cardi B. “Why you call me so early? It’s nine o’clock in the morning?”
Soon after a picture was posted of the ladies to each of their social media accounts.
Cardi captioned the post with, “all the rumors are truuuuue – me n my sis @lizzobeeating dropping this friday get ready 😘😘😘”
“Rumors” ends a two-year hiatus for Lizzo. Her last release was in 2019’s “Cuz I Love You.” It also marks her return to Twitter, which she left in January 2020 due to internet trolls, “Hey y’all.. heard I was trending so I decided to come back on here.. what I miss? 👀”
The two ladies have been friends and support one another on social media often. Back in 2019, Cardi B showed her support for Lizzo when “Truth Hurts” hit #1. And the two also shared some screen time on the movie Hustlers with Jennifer Lopez.
“Rumors” will drop Friday, August 13.
