Cardi B May Be Hitting the Studio With Ozuna and Migos’ Offset

A week after busting down doors as the first Dominican artist to hit the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100, all eyes are on Cardi B’s next steps. She gave us a teaser about future money moves today on her Instagram, where she leaked a studio shot with reggaeton romántico heavy Ozuna.

She accompanied the photo with a one-word caption: “HITMAKERS.” But the photo – which also features Migos rapper and Cardi’s rumored fiancée and Migos rapper Offset, Jamaican trapper Rvssian, and PR trap producer Yampi – says a lot about ways in which Caribbean and United States artists are redrawing the lines of music industry alliance. As a No. 1 artist with a loyal #BardiGang squadron dedicated to boosting her presence, Cardi B is positioned to play a role in the españolización of US pop music. (Never forget the Latin Trap remix of her chart topping single “Bodak Yellow.”)

We’ll have to wait and see what fruits the Ozuna-Migos-Cardi B work session yields. Most of Cardi’s rise to fame has been mostly feature-free, so it’ll be interesting to see how she handle collaborations with fellow heavyweights from here on out. That being said, our immediate reaction is somewhere along the lines of Instagram user k.mejiaxx; “YASS THIS IS WHAT WE’VE BEEN WAITING FOR ??
