Cardi Becomes First Female Rapper with 3 Certified Diamond Singles

There are few musical artists that consistently break records and Cardi B is among them. Her musical career has been one that most people can only ever dream of achieving. This week, Cardi B continues her record-breaking streak by becoming the first female rapper to earn three certified diamond songs by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). A diamond certification means that 10 million units of the song have sold.

Cardi B’s single “I Like It” featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin was recently certified diamond by the RIAA making the rapper more prolific and iconic in her career. The song, which was a hit when it was released in 2018. There wasn’t a bar or club that wasn’t playing that song on regular rotation.

Cardi B was elated to hear the news that she earned a third certified diamond single. Her first two were for “Bodak Yellow,” which launched her into the mainstream, and “Girls Like You” with Maroon 5.

“Wow I’m sooo happy 🥺😭☺️! My album came out in 2018 and it’s still breaking records,” the rapper wrote on an Instagram post. “I have a solo 💎 record, a feature 💎 record and now ANOTHER 💎 record from a collab with 2 people that I look up to and love so much, @jbalvin & @badbunnypr 😱! I remember like it was yesterday when this song went #1 and now it’s Diamond. I honestly just can’t believe this is happening!”

She continued in the post to thank all of her fans and people who supported her debut album. She also shared that the song was the catalyst for her relationship with Balenciaga.
