La Caldi has never been one to hold her tongue on everything from female pleasure to politics. The 27-year-old artist spoke to Elle after the release of her latest metaphor-doused release with Megan Thee Stallion. Kulture’s mother spoke candidly about her many failed cancellations, political thoughts, love life revelations (or lack thereof, rather) and, last but not least, new music.

In April, Cardi B revealed her sophomore album, which she called Invasion of Privacy’s sister, is set to be birthed this year. A little over halfway into the decade that has been 2020, the Bronxite has her eyes on the prize. This time, with a seemingly introspective twist.

“My music is always going to make a woman feel like a bad bitch,” she told Elle. “When you make a woman feel like she’s the baddest bitch in the room, to me, that’s female empowerment. But this album is going to be really different… it’s going to have my Lemonade moments, my personal relationship moments.”

That being said, there’s no word on when that big reveal will be, and she isn’t rushing the process. “I don’t want to just put out a single and have people buy it because I’m Cardi,” she said. “I want to put out really good music.”

Our bodies and souls are ready.
