It’s 2013 and rapper Tupac Shakur refuses to remain dead. Nearly a year after his “appearance” at the Coachella Valley Music Festival, producers and DJs are still putting the rapper to work with mashups and remixes. The latest 2Pac “collaboration” comes to us courtesy of producer/DJ Nadi.
Nadi, who is also the founder of club night Ecstatic Dance Maui in Hawaii, took Chancha Via Circuito’s “Puente” sample-for-sample and threw in the vocals from 2Pac’s “How Do U Want It” cleverly naming it “Chancha Wants It.” The result is a bit more perfect than you’d expect considering how much slower the beat on Chancha’s psychedelic, cumbia-riffic track sounds compared to 2Pac’s original.
Honestly, the mashup works so well that we’re surprised no one else thought of this sooner.
