A few weeks ago, we hit up CMJ in New York City with one thing in mind: to find out who are the current best emerging and “it” Latin artists of today. Sure, we know what and who we like, but what other sounds of 2012 have highly stood out, and what bands should we keep a keen eye out for, that is for 2013? We were glad to arrive to a conclusion during the frenzied Music Marathon week.
Remember the gorgeous Boricua twins from a few years back? That’s right. Queens, New York-based Nina Sky (Nicole & Natalie) is back with a vengeance, a very attractive new look, and a sultry/edgy sound that’ll definitely charm you away. Second, we got (also from Queens!) the multi-cultural hip hop collective World’s Fair that brought us an über energetic show with igniting narrative rhymes. And last but not least, Brazilian electro-fusion trio Bonde do Rolê spiced things up with a sexy performance and bewitching vibes that got us addicted for more of them.
We chatted with all these artists during the CMJ Music Marathon about their novelties, style, music, culture among other things, and of course shot them live for YOU to watch. Check out our best three picks here:
