We’re in the final stretches of 2017, so it’s officially a great time to start thinking about our 2018 festival calendar. To begin your year on the right foot, we have one recommendation: Comunité Festival. For its third edition, the eco-friendly event is returning to the historic site of Tulum on January 5-6. With an internationally minded lineup, Comunité also champions social and ecological consciousness in its mission. It will once again benefit Restore Coral, a local initiative that aims to re-plant endangered coral reefs in an effort to fight climate change and preserve ocean ecosystems. A portion of the ticket sales will also be donated to undisclosed initiatives to help families affected by the September 19 earthquake in Central Mexico.

Leading the lineup is the Mexican debut of British producer James Holden’s live show with The Animal Spirits, as well as a special performance by L.A. synth wizard Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, curated by Tulum artist residency Aki Aora. Thanks to the festival’s yearly cultural exchange with Cuba, we’ll be able to witness neo-soul singer Daymé Arocena and Miami-based electronic music legend Alpha 606.

Nicola Cruz returns to Tulum for the festival, and so will AAAA, now performing solo instead of in tandem with Tin Man. Other returning acts include Lawrence, Josep, and Rhadoo. The lineup is completed by seasoned producer Murcof and local acts Soul of Hex, Jonn, Uchi, Itzone, and Alexis Yasky, plus rRoxymore, Clap Clap!, Romare, and more.

Keep an eye on Comunité’s website for its specific location, more confirmed artists, ticket sales, and the complete list of activities that will take place at the festival.
