Since its opening last December, Bossa Nova Civic Club has become one of my favorite spots to get everything I need in a night out: tasty cocktails, attractive people, incredible tunes, flashing lights and lots of fog to make it all that more mysterious/seedy. For the last few months, Bossa Nova has hosted some of the best up and coming DJs and musical acts, provided the perfect stage to introduce them to NYC. And riding on the wave of the LAMC this past July, Boricua DJ/Videographer/Editor Chris Video has created the L.E.A.D(Latin Electronic Alternative Dance) Fest, the 1st annual Latin electronic music festival happening over the weekend of August 24 and 25.

But before the show can go on, L.E.A.D. Fest needs your help to fund the cost of performers, production of CDs and programs and any other miscellaneous materials to help spread the word. Already boasting a great lineup of artists (highlights include: Maracuyeah, Riki Razo, Selma Oxor, DJ Riobamba), the schedule is set to introduce Bushwick to cutting edge artists from Cuba, Spain, Peru, El Salvador and beyond.

With practically no starting budget, Chris Video is passionate about bringing L.E.A.D to life, noting that “Latin electronic music is already so big here- I think it’s important to bring them together and have a home for these types of artists & DJs.” If successful here in NYC, they have dreams of having a second festival in Miami, to continue uniting the communities of Latin electronic music fans/artists around the U.S. and the world.

Contribute to the L.E.A.D. Fest Kickstarter here and we’ll meet you on the dancefloor!
