Everybody’s favorite female rapper, Anita Tijoux, is coming back to California for a short tour and this time around she’s bringing DJ Dacel and rapper Hordatoj. Last year she toured the US with LA-based Mexican DJ Ethos backing her on stage because she couldn’t get visas to bring her crew. Nothing wrong with Ethos, he’s a really cool guy and an exceptional beat juggler, but this time we’ll get to see Ana’s show the way it was meant to: with her own posse.
We introduced DJ Dacel a couple of months ago through our Weekly Mezcolanza and we anticipated he was coming out with his solo debut album, Sol de Octubre, where he produced all the vinyl-based beats and has many Chilean underground MCs guest rhyming. Unfortunately it’s only available in Chile, but we’re hoping he brings some copies along to sell at Anita’s shows. “Viviendo de Recreo” is Sol de Octubre’s first single and it features MC Camileasy on vocals plus Solo di Medina on the hook. The video is fresh out of the oven, came out yesterday.
It’s gonna take you a while to learn how to pronounce the name of Hordatoj, the MC Anita is bringing along as Dacel’s wingman, but don’t worry, it’s not your lack of Spanish language skills. His name is hard to remember even for native speakers (he used to go by Jotadroh, then, for some reason he decided to flip it backwards). He’s not new to the game, he was already rapping with Anita on the second single for her first solo album Kaos, “A Veces” and later she returned the favor, showing up to drop some verses on his remarkable debut album Entre Lo Habitual y Lo Cotidiano, released (again, only in Chile) in 2008.
