Latine pop star Demi Lovato and actor Max Ehrich have reportedly ended their engagement. The duo had been together for less than a year and got engaged in July. The breakup comes just ten days after old tweets had resurfaced of Ehrich posting about his love for Selena Gomez and stating that he preferred Gomez over Lovato. Lovato released a statement that the screenshots were allegedly doctored.

Ehrich proposed to Lovato on the beach over the summer. Lovato announced the news with an Instagram post of the couple kissing and flocking on the beach. “I knew I loved you the moment I met you. It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too,” she wrote. “I’ve never felt so unconditionally loved by someone in my life (other than my parents) flaws and all. You never pressure me to be anything other than myself. And you make me want to be the best version of myself. I’m honored to accept your hand in marriage. I love you more than a caption could express but I’m ecstatic to start a family and life with you. I love you forever my baby. My partner. Here’s to our future!!!!”

The “Échame La Culpa” singer reportedly credits the global pandemic for accelerating their relationship as the two went into quarantine together not long after they started dating. “It was a tough decision, but Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers,” a source told People magazine. “They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together.” Ehrich took to Instagram after news of the split broke to post a simple graphic stating ‘Jesus loves you.’ Lovato has yet to confirm the split.

Our hearts go out to Lovato as she navigates the breakup. Losing love is never easy, but, the singer has proven time and time again that she’s resilient and can overcome anything.
